Vas Aradhana Ceremony 2018

The three months of Vassana (the rains retreat) season for Buddhist Monks began on the day after the Esala full moon poya on July 27th. Vas Aradhana Ceremony of Leeds Buddhist Vihara was held on Friday the 27th of July at the Vihara premises with a gathering of number of devotees. This year the ceremonial Vas Aradhana, (invitation to the Venerable Monks to observe retreat) was carried out by trustees of Leeds Buddhist Vihara Trust. Most Venerable Pidiwille Piyatissa Maha Thero (Head Monk of Leeds Buddhist Vihara) given a speech about the Significance of Vas, followed by a Dhamma Sermon by Venerable Galpottayaye Pemenanda Thero (Deputy Head Monk of Leeds Buddhist Vihara).

During the Vassana season, the Ven. Monks will be carrying out special Buddha Pooja, Dhamma sermons, Dhamma discussions and Chanting Seth Pirith. The Poojas and Dhamma Sermons are available to any devotees, families, and friends to sponsor by contacting the temple. The sewing of Katina Cheevara will be held on Saturday, 27th October 2018 and the Katina Ceremony will be on Sunday, 4th November 2018. All are welcome to attend these meritorious services.
