Poson Day Celebrations (පොසොන් උත්සවය) – 2019
Leeds Buddhist Vihara held its Poson Day Celebrations on 22nd of June 2019 at Moor Allerton Sports and Social Centre with the participation of a large gathering of Sri Lankan families and local devotees.
The event was organised by Venerable Galpottayaye Pemananda Thero (Deputy Head Monk of Leeds Buddhist Vihara), under the guidance of Most Venerable Pidiwille Piyatissa Maha Thero, Head Monk of Leeds Buddhist Vihara. Most Venerable Siyambalapitiye Buddharakkhitha Maha Thero, Venerable Kaluaggala Saranasiri Thero and Venerable Kekundeniye Shantha Thero also attended the event.
The religious ceremony commenced with a special Dhamma Discussion followed by singing Devotional songs (බක්ති ගීත) by Leeds Dhamma School children and parents.
A separate session of meditation and Dhamma activities was organised for the children during the Dhamma discussion. The programme concluded with a Dansela (දන්සැල) for all the participants.
