About Us

Leeds Buddhist Vihara (Temple) was established in 2017 by the Leeds Buddhist Vihara Trust. The inauguration was  headed by Most Venerable Pidiwille Piyatissa Maha Thero  who is the Chairperson of the Leeds Buddhist Vihara Trust and also the Head Monk of the Vihara.

He was assisted by Venerable Galpottayaye Pemananda Thero who is a Trustee of the Leeds Buddhist Vihara Trust and is the Deputy Head of the Vihara. Venerable Galpottayaye Pemananda Thero coordinates the programmes at the Vihara with the assistance of the resident monks and the Trustees under the guidance of Most Venerable Pidiwille Piyatissa Maha Thero.

Resident monks conduct Daily Buddha Puja in addition to Meditation, Dhamma sermons and discussion sessions throughout the week. The resident monks counsel devotees who may be in need of spiritual guidance.

The administration of the Vihara is carried out by the Leeds Buddhist Vihara Trust which is a registered Charity in England and Wales. (Charity No: 1175406)
